Who are we?
About Us
The United States of America proudly embraces immigrant and refugee families from around the globe. The Al-Rasool Islamic Center (AIC) established in 1998 by a dedicated group of Shia Muslims, started with a small room in the heart of Salt Lake City. By 2002, Utah emerged as a thriving hub of opportunities, attracting individuals eager to move to Salt Lake City for education, business, and career advancement. As the Shia Muslim community flourished in 2008, the AIC Executive Committee strategically acquired a larger facility to accommodate the growing demand for Shia Muslim religious and social activities. Since then, AIC has confidently become the cornerstone for over five thousand diverse Muslim and non-Muslim communities in the greater Salt Lake City area. AIC is recognized as a nonprofit organization under Utah law and obtained its 501(c)(3) status as a religious non-profit organization from the Internal Revenue Service. In 2023, the AIC building proudly received a nomination as a Utah Historic Site.
